Introduction
This writing course of 6 weeks will bring the theme of collective liberation, activism, healing, prayers ,and daily practices.
In these six weeks there will be different poems from the martyrs from Gaza who have been killed in the genocide.
The course is facilitated by Haneen Sabbah.

Haneen Sabbah is a Palestinian Falahi mother currently based in southern Portugal and a passionate advocate for her homeland, working through writing, cultural organizing, and storytelling.
Her journey began in Gaza, where she witnessed firsthand the realities of life under siege.
As a contributing writer for We Are Not Numbers, she has documented the lives of women in Gaza. Through her work with Global Voices, she has helped amplify stories that are often unheard.
Beyond writing, Haneen is an active organizer, raising awareness of Palestinian culture and political realities through events in Portugal. She has organized film screenings and co-hosted cultural gatherings to foster solidarity with Palestine. Her work also includes participating in retreats focused on healing and peace activation.
Course Goals
To write back, to give blessings
To be held in a world that feels like falling apart
To be in a community space to speak about truth and healing and what’s happening in our worlds and connect the dots of what’s going on in us to what’s going on outside
To connect the personal and the political
When on some days rest is political, and on some days taking the streets is political
Writing for the sake of creation and connection
Re-imagining and allowing writing to transform and heal and act.
Weekly Themes
Week One (Introduction):
– Weaving people of who they are and bringing them into the nest
– Asking participants who they are and what brings them here and what they wish for writing to hold for them in the weeks
– Writing in flow after visualization meditation
Week Two (I Grant You Refuge):
– Exploring topic of transformation and justice and activism, in addition to poetry from Shuhadaa (martyrs).
– Reading poetry and practicing to witness, writing back to the poems (I grant you refuge).
Week Three (Spiritual Practices and Ritual Importance):
– Sharing our own practices and practicing it with participants, and writing prompts to explore their own practices from ancestors or family.
Week Four (Grief Ritual):
– Reading Omar Abu Shawish’s poem Longing Overwhelms Me.
– Allowing writing be a vessel to our grief
Week Five (Connection and Collective Liberation):
– Weaving dots and connections to actions and empowerment and collective liberation
– “If I Must Die” poem by Refaat El Areer
– Having participants reflect on their journey so far
– Exploring actions that align with their capacity Writing prompts towards collective liberation

Week Six (Weaving Forward):
– Weaving network, what each one brings and how we can keep supporting one another
– Writing collectively in a Google document with prompts
– Haneen will share her own poem and listen to participants’ poems from the six sessions.

– The course price ranges from 250– 450 euros.
